Ian MacNeill

Ian Spence MacNeill June 2, 1961 – June 12, 2023 Ian left this world in peace surrounded by the love of his family. Ian’s spirit will remain forever in the hearts and memories of his wife of 33 years, Anne (Beckett), children: Andrew, Heather, and Michael; dad, Andy, sister, Alison (Paul) and brother, Andrew Ian was born in Nassau, Bahamas where his dad was working with RBC, International Banking. After moving to Toronto, the family then moved to Barbados. His early education was the British curriculum, so upon returning to Canada he was advanced 2 grades. Ian was always the youngest in his classes. The family moved regularly but it was in Halifax where Ian really found his roots. There he met life long friends, graduated from Dalhousie and was an active member in his fraternity, Sigma Chi which he continued to support throughout his lifetime. Ian retired from RBC after 40 years of dedication and commitment to his career and colleagues. He was very happy and proud to have worked for RBC in many capacities – his last position in Ottawa was one he truly loved and found so much fulfillment. Ian’s passions included: our cottage, golf (best finder and hunter of lost balls), sports (watched every sport and a huge supporter of women in sport), trivia master, memory keeper (how is Anne going to remember everything?), musical theatre, fine arts (loved supporting Canadian art and paintings with water) and all things trending. Most of all, Ian was so proud of his children, their accomplishments, and the wonderful people they are. Many thanks to the PRHC Cancer Care Clinic, infusion clinic, and dialysis unit. Ian and his family are so grateful to all the nurses in the ICU (especially Deb and Shannon) and Doctors Brown, Carly and Bishop for their care, compassion, and honest conversations in his final hours. A celebration in honour of Ian will take place on SUNDAY, JUNE 25, 2:00 pm at the Peterborough Curling Club, 2195 Lansdowne St W, Peterborough, Ontario. (Casual dress, golf attire preferred) In lieu of flowers, donations to the PRHC Foundation (prhcfoundation.ca (remember a life – general)) IN Ian’s memory would be appreciated.
