Larry Douglas Love With his children at his side, Larry, left us suddenly on June 9th, 2026 due to complications related to cancer in his 77th year. Larry was loved by many, but will be missed dearly by his children Scott (Shari) and Becky (Mark) and his three adoring grandchildren, Conrad, Lennox and Logan. Larry was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Marian (nee Potter) in 2024. He will also be missed by his sister Cheryl, niece Courtney and nephew Adam, as well as many extended family, and lifelong friends. Larry's story began in 1949 in Hamilton. He was in high school when he met Marian, the love of his life. They were married in Toronto, lived in the Beaches for a short time, then drove west in a camper van with a canoe on top to Calgary. They sought their shared passion of skiing as ski patroller's at Sunshine Village Ski Resort and spent summers adventuring the lakes with their canoe. They shared a love of springer spaniels and had many over the course of their life together. When pregnant with their first child, they returned to Ontario to live at Pleasant Point, on Sturgeon lake, a place with a shared history and meaning to them both. The family moved to Ottawa for a few years, where Larry attended law school at the University of Ottawa. Upon completing law school in 1997, the family moved to Peterborough, where Larry started his law practice that he ran up until his final day. Larry had a deep love and connection to the outdoors, canoeing, camping and being next to the water was where he felt most at ease. He loved photography and was president and actively involved in the Peterborough Photographic Society for many years. He was a recreational pilot and liked to trap shoot. Most importantly, he lived a life of integrity and deep loyalty to those he loved and cared for. He has left an imprint on our hearts forever and will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held at the Peterborough Canoe Museum (Event Room) on Sunday, July 12, 2026. Family are invited to drop in from 1:00–3:00 p.m., with friends and community members welcome from 3:00–5:00 p.m. His remains shall be cast upon the sacred waters of Wolf Lake, later in July. Thank you to the skilled and brave nurses at PRHC who cared for both Larry and Marian with compassion to the very end. Their efforts will never be forgotten.
