Michelle Karen Florence Ruth Garvey (Jolicoeur) With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Michelle Karen Florence Ruth Garvey (Jolicoeur) of Peterborough, Ontario, on Saturday, June 13, 2026, after a courageous two year battle with cancer. Michelle spent her final days at Hospice Peterborough surrounded by the love of her family and countless friends, embracing every precious moment with those she held closest. Her incredible strength, unwavering spirit, and positive outlook inspired everyone fortunate enough to know her. Born on May 30, 1987, in Toronto, Ontario, Michelle was a beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, aunt, wife, mother, and friend. She was the kind of person who made everyone feel welcome. Her warmth, compassion, generosity, humour, thoughtfulness, and infectious smile left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She had an incredible gift for connecting with people and building lifelong friendships. Whether you knew Michelle for years or had only just met her, you quickly felt like family. Michelle worked a variety of jobs while searching for the career that truly fulfilled her, eventually finding her passion at Charm Diamond Centres. She loved helping people celebrate life's most meaningful milestones by finding the perfect gift to mark those special occasions. She often said that being a small part of those moments made every day at work worthwhile. Outside of work, Michelle embraced life with enthusiasm. She loved shopping (and would be the first to laugh about that), crafting, travelling, kayaking, decorating, organizing family gatherings, and creating lasting memories with the people she loved. She treasured the countless FaceTime calls with her sisters and closest friends, conversations filled with laughter, support, and love. Music was another of Michelle's greatest passions, especially her beloved Backstreet Boys. Anyone who knew her knew she was undoubtedly their biggest fan. Fittingly, one of their most iconic songs describes Michelle perfectly: Larger Than Life. Above all else, Michelle's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her family. She deeply loved her husband, Scott Garvey, whom she often described as her best friend and soulmate. Whether they were working weddings together, travelling, attending concerts, playing poker, or simply sharing pizza and watching movies in bed, Michelle cherished every moment they spent together. It was never about what they were doing. It was simply about being together. Her greatest pride was her daughter, Lillian Landman. Michelle loved watching Lillian grow into the beautiful, talented, and compassionate young woman she became. She was especially grateful to witness Lillian graduate and attend her high school prom. She knew Lillian had an incredibly bright future ahead of her and loved her with every part of her heart. Together they shared countless memories through shopping trips, crafts, vacations, and cheering from the sidelines at figure skating, soccer, gymnastics, and baseball. Every moment together became a treasured memory. Michelle was predeceased by her beloved mother, Karen Jolicoeur, in 2022. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Scott Garvey; her cherished daughter, Lillian Landman; her father, Edward Nidd; her grandmother, Winnifred Nidd; her loving sisters, Dianne (Corey), Danielle (Thomas), and Krystal; her brother, Phillip (Angela); her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved beyond words; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were forever enriched by knowing her. Michelle's kindness could never be measured. She celebrated the successes of others, stood beside those who needed support, and always made time for the people she loved. Her laughter was contagious, her smile unforgettable, and her heart was bigger than life itself. Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Michelle's love, strength, and beautiful spirit will continue to live on through every life she touched. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Peterborough in Michelle's honour. Our family will be forever grateful for the extraordinary compassion, dignity, and care shown to Michelle throughout her final journey.
