Clementina & Charles Hassell

HASSELL, Clementina “Clem” and Charles “Chick” Together always and forever! The Hassell family announces with sorrow the passing of Clementina “Clem” Whyte Kinnear (née Gordon) Hassell on January 4, 2026, at the age of 94, and the passing of Charles Gen “Chick” Hassell on January 5, 2026, at the age of 95; both at Springdale Country Manor. Married for nearly 73 years, Clem and Chick are the loving parents of Robert (Deborah). Proud grandparents of Heather (Will), Bobby (Erin), and Lindsay (Cory) and adoring great grandparents of Owen, Keegan, Brody, Sam, Reid, and Graham. Family was the centre of their lives and they dearly loved their grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought them so much joy! Clementina was predeceased by her parents and siblings in Scotland and Australia. She was a dedicated member of the Centreville Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Auxiliary at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 402. As well Clem was a longtime volunteer with Community Care, Millbrook. Charles was predeceased by his parents and siblings. He was a veteran of the British Army and worked as a coal miner, baker and paper mill Chick was an avid golfer and fisherman and loved his summers at their cottage on Remi Lake near Kapuskasing. Together Chick and Clem played tennis and managed a youth club in their home town of Coaltown of Balgonie in Scotland. After immigrating to Canada in 1967, they enjoyed being active in the community of Kapuskasing where they lived until 2002 when they moved to Millbrook. They enjoyed playing cards together and with various groups over the years. The family are deeply grateful for the amazing care that Clem and Chick received as well as the family support from all the staff at Springdale Country Manor over four and half years. A special thanks to Dr. David Van Loon who was their physician for many years. In honour of Chick and Clem, donations to the Centreville Presbyterian Church, Community Care Millbrook or the Royal Canadian Legion- Branch 402, would be appreciated by their family.
