Julie Armstrong (Reynolds)

Julie Joanne Armstrong of Peterborough passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Hospice Peterborough on July 10, 2023. Loving wife of Alan Elliott Armstrong. Cherished mother of Angela (Jeff Cain), Charles, William, the late Elliott, and Jillian (Sam Stewart). Doting grandmother of Archibald and Odin Armstrong-Cain, and future baby Stewart. Devoted sister of Sandra Orser, Daniel Reynolds (Cathy), Susan MacMillian (Les), Linda Western (Bob), Nancy Storey (Larry), Barry Reynolds, Chris Reynolds (Barb), and Mike Reynolds (Geeta). She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her mother, Genevieve Rose Daniel Reynolds, and her father, George Ronald Reynolds. Julie grew up in a busy home in Bridgenorth with eight siblings. From a young age, she frequently looked after her numerous nieces and nephews. Many of Al and Julie’s dates were actually babysitting outings which likely served two purposes: giving her tired siblings a break, and ensuring Al would make a good future father. She played many sports but loved baseball. She had an arm that was feared by base runners everywhere. The power of her throw would later intimidate her children while they “casually” played catch in the backyard. Al and Julie met in high school where Al would say he fell madly in love with “JR”. At this statement, Julie would roll her eyes and wonder aloud why it then took nine years of dating before he finally proposed. Al loved Julie more than life itself, and theirs is a love that will transcend death. Although Julie eventually left her nursing career to raise a family and join Alan in running a business, caring for others remained central to Julie’s life. She was a selfless individual who always put the well-being of others before her own. She was a mother to many and ensured that people close to her always knew they were part of a larger support network. Julie raised four children of her own. She made incredible personal sacrifices over the years to ensure they had everything. Al and Julie never missed an important event, whether it was a baseball game, piano recital, or a dance competition. They raised their kids to be decent, thoughtful, respectful, confident, and most of all to consider others before themselves. A special thanks to the incredible care received at Lakeridge Health, PRHC, and Hospice. The family is forever grateful for the continuous support and professionalism they were shown throughout the last few months. The Armstrong family will hold a celebration of Julie’s life later this summer, date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Julie to Hospice Peterborough.
